Mark Thibert
Saxophone

Mark is a highly sought-after saxophonist, having played numerous productions of theatre, symphony, visiting acts, festivals, and recording sessions. His work on a children’s album received a Juno nomination. In 1993 Dr. Thibert returned to the music scene in Thunder Bay, initially as a sax player in several rock bands. His true love was for jazz. In 1995, Mark formed his first jazz group, initially a duo with pianist Glenn Jennings. The group expanded, becoming a quintet with bassist Tom Boshcoff and guitarist Mark Soderlind, and drummer Don Mehagan. They were originally called the Swing Kings, later taking to their current name of Mood Indigo. The band aw voted the “Best Jazz Act” in Thunder Bay, by the Walleye reader’s poll “Best in Thunder Bay 2017.” Mark has been performing in the Roy Coran Band for over 20 years. Throughout the years, Mark’s sax solos have been a highlight of the Thunder Bay ‘Summer in the Parks’ concert series and the Thunder Bay Blues Festival.
